IEEE Plays Key Role at India Energy Storage Week 2024

As a global leader in the technical professional community, IEEE is dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Key enablers of decarbonization, such as e-mobility, storage systems, and hydrogen, are central green technology initiatives. With a strong emphasis on sustainable climate technologies, IEEE actively seeks impactful collaborations to drive significant change.

A notable example of IEEE’s global commitment was its participation in the India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2024 held in New Delhi, on 1–5 July 2024.

The event featured pavilions from Australia, France, the US, Germany, and Canada, and delegations from over 50 other countries. With more than 200 industries in the e-mobility ecosystem showcasing their products, the event underscored the collaborative spirit of the global energy community.

This five-day event featured:

  • India Battery Manufacturing Day: Focused on manufacturing, raw materials, supply chain, recycling, and the circular economy
  • EV (Electric Vehicle) Day: Highlighted EV manufacturing, components, charging infrastructure, battery swapping, government policies, and international collaboration
  • Stationary Storage Day: Covered solar plus storage, re-hybrid systems, storage for grid applications, and front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter applications, including within the telecom, data centers, and C&I sector
  • Green Hydrogen Day: Focused on green hydrogen policy, technologies, electrolyzer and balance of system (BOS) manufacturing, and deployment applications

Roudtable - Women in enegery forumIEEE leadership, including 2024 President Thomas Coughlin and 2023 Past President Dr. Saifur Rahman, delivered keynote addresses, while Dr. Surekha Deshmukh, Chair of the IEEE Pune Section and an Executive Committee member of the PES-IAS chapter, made a valuable contribution as a panelist in the “Women in Energy” Forum.

Together, they presented IEEE’s role in technology and societal expectations through activities, conferences, and standards, emphasizing the importance of technological advancements for a sustainable climate.
